Well, I bought some DVD's this week. And here they are:

Mondo Cane Collection - Limited Edition (Mondo Cane / Women of the World / Mondo Cane 2 / Africa Addio - English Version / Africa Addio - Directors' Cut / Goodbye Uncle Tom - English Version / Addio Zio Tom - Director's Cut / The Godfathers of Mondo

This is an 8 DVD boxed set limited to only 10,000 copies. While the individual items will continue to be sold, the boxed set will be limited. While I notice it is not the hottest selling item out there (which will probably prevent the item from shooting up in price once discontinued), it will probably be an item that will have its day later on (ala Let the Sleeping Corpses Lie or something to that effect). Also, the set is pricey to begin with (ala Wrong Men and Notorious Women), making those buyers weary. The content is selective. The set is from Blue Underground, as mentioned a popular new company is degraded cinema. Got this at a nice price of 76 bucks including shipping - brand new!

Driller Killer / The Early Short Films of Abel Ferrara

This set is from Cult Epics. A small company with about a dozen DVD's to offer. This set is limited to 10,000 I believe. Picked it up cheap. 10 bucks new. It's a 2-disc set that comes with some of Abel Ferera's early short films.

I Will Walk Like a Crazy Horse (J'irai Comme un Cheval Fou)

A DVD that is out of print. A copy selling brand new at a reasonable price, so I picked it up. It seems to be getting some interest in the OOP market. Not heavily, but almost a curiosity at this point. The movie itself is supposed to be surreal, so I have no idea what to expect.

Viva la Muerte

This is by the same director as the film above. Also out of print. Both of these DVD's are from Cult Epics.

Pig

Now I bought this film from and Amazon seller who stated it was new, shrink wrapped, signed from the director, limited numbered.
What I got was a seemingly used, non-signed, non-numbered edition. Not to mention it took over a month to get. Fortunately the guy is willing to make some amends (I hope) and offer me a signed DVD and ship it to me when it arrives in exchange for my edition (but not until I get the copy will I send it back). So, in one sense I am disappointed - for a couple of reasons!

First, that the DVD is supposed to be limited to only 1334 DVD's, so says the website. It states that only 250 of them were signed. Now, this fella who is selling these DVD's says he is offering limited signed editions of 666 copies. They may really be signed by the director, but I feel that the edition quantitiy more than doubled. So what happens now to the original pricing? I have not seen one offered signed, but it will affect that price somewhat. Further, the copy I have has NO number, it is blank where the number should be. There may be overstock, I dont know. I do believe the copy I have to be authentic (it comes with book, etc), but I do not think they were from the original pressing. Those are my thoughts about it.

All Ladies Do It (Special Edition)

Another from Cult Epics (what can I say, I like their stuff). This is a special edition version of All Ladies Do It. Director Tinto Brass, considered the Russ Meyer of the Italian world, except a bit more explicit. This film offers a nice rounded out story as you might tell from the cover of the DVD. The original edition (not the special) is out of print, and this took its place. There is a boxed set of Tinto Brass which features all new releases of his three films All Ladies Do It, The Key and Miranda.

Movies I did not buy, but have watched this past week:

South Park - The Passion of the Jew
Team America - World Police (Uncensored and Unrated Special Collector's Edition)
Darkness (Unrated Version)
Kinsey (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Troy (Two-Disc Full Screen Edition)
Collateral
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (Unrated Extended Edition)

Well, that is all for now. The links to the previous post should all be working by the time you read this. Thanks! OopAnt
