Welcome to 2006

We had a cool year here on this site. It is still being modified for maximum use. But we have a nice assembly of users in the forum that make this a great and unique site. I thank all of you that have joined us and continued to support us throughout the year. As I have said in the past, my personal exploration of films have led me into the underbelly of sinema, sometimes called EuroTrash, exploitation (and all its variants), Giallo, etc. I want to mention a few recent items that have raised some attention, both by the media and in the small circles of European imported DVD's.

Two DVD's dealing with legal issues, according to some reports floating on the internet, in which they have either been pulled, or difficult to find. Murder-Set-Pieces [Director's Cut] from Fright Flix, according to www.dioblikdvd.com, it has been discontinued due to legal issues. If one goes to www.frightflix.com, and into their store, you will not see the item up for sale (although a T-shirt is avaialble).

According to a seller on Amazon, a version that is recut and more tame is supposedly in the works, but I do not know how credible his words are. This is about the most information I was able to find out about Murder-Set-Pieces, from the Anchor Bay forum.

"Apparently the director made a deal with a company who promised wider distribution of the DVD. The distributor then revealed their intentions of excising 15 minutes from the film before releasing it. Hence, the director rallied against this and put together his own "director's cut" DVD and started selling it from his own Website (selling lots of pre-orders to the likes of Xploited and Diabolik) but was forced to discontinue the sale when the distributors lawyers got involved ... the out-of-court settlement being that the pre-ordered copies could be sold, but no more fresh copies be advertised. Or something like that. Who knows what the truth is."

Again, what the truth is, who knows. This item is still avaialble on eBay, Amazon, xploitedcinema.com, and diablikdvd.com. Another DVD facing some legal trouble is a small sexploitation film titled "Adbucted by Daleks". It is a small film that deals with 3 disco strippers and one mysterious woman Anna. All eventually get undressed. The DVD is limited to 1000 copies, however, the Daleks were created by Terry Nation for the British series Dr. Who. This softcore version of the Daleks were not given permission by Nation and therefore is unauthorized. This DVD is being sold on eBay, however, according to some websites, some are not escaping with a completed sale. This item is sold out in most places, but you can still get one at xploitedcinema.com.

Lastly is Fred Vogul's rare films August Underground. There are 2 in the series. The 2-disc "Snuff" edition which is signed by the cast and crew is limited to 1,000 pieces (mentioned in a previous posting). It is noticed on eBay that prices are getting in excess of 60.00 for these copies that are signed. Also, the sequel, August Underground's Mordum is out of print and seems to be hard to get. The official site, Toe Tag Pictures states it is out of print and no longer for sale as does xploitedcinema.com.
