Out of Print Madness
These titles will be sorted by Studio with some notes at the bottom of each area. Please note that these are as mentioned by MMM and status and available are subject to change without notice.
BUENA VISTA
The Complete Pluto Volume 2 looks to be close to drying up. The reviews are good which will help this title. These were limited to 65,000 copies. The following wave was limited to 50,000 copies and check those out! So this has good potential. It might take some patience though. Mickey and Winnie the Pooh titles are redundant titles that Disney serves up to parents with kids who want impulse buys. Always good to watch, but I believe the content is not original. Down to You is a teenage film that does not appear to have a re-release. Could be good if it stays out of print for a significant length.
FOX LORBER
Devil's Playground is a popular documentary about how Amish teenagers, as a form of rite of passage choose to live among us Westerners or modern folks for a period of time and to make the decision to go back or stay in this culture. Many end up with reckless and dangerous lives that they never they had the potential for. Breathless is the classic Jean-Luc Godard film. Criterion has re-released this. Brief Crossing is from controversial direction Catherine Breillat (many of her titles are OOP), and here is one that appears to be decent, although its one of her lesser known titles. Venus Beauty Institute appears to have its artwork stolen by New Yorker Video for its Happenstance cover. Or maybe its vice versa. Either way, Audrey Toutou is in this one.
HBO
Who does not love The Cannonball Run? A classic comedy in the tradition of It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!! Tons of celebs, great humor and fast action. I grew up on this kind of comedy. There does not appear to be another release coming. Right now there are plenty of copies cheap.
MGM
Camille Claudel stars Isabel Adjani is a well received French film. Never on a Sunday is a Jules Dassin film that also is well received. Both films look to have good potential from the World Films banner.
MYSTIC FIRE VIDEO
All of these titles look promising, but more so than others is The Power of Myth. This title went out of print for a time at the beginning of the year and prices rapidly soared. Prices have already escalated quickly, but there is probability we have not seen this dry up completely just yet. The Four Noble Truths looks to be very good and is already out of stock. The Robert Thurman Collection looks the one to get as it includes the other title on Buddhism.
