Current eBay Auction

I have not written here in a while. I have been busy attending my other life which unfortunately pays better. But I did not forget about my dear readers and collectors of our humble DVD world. I did a look around eBay and decided to compile a listing of some of the hot auctions that are out there right now. I determine this not by price, but how many bids are placed on certain auctions. There are lots of buy it now sales, but I always feel that an auction is a truer test of the items worth. The top DVD auction that I see is from the Reboot series. This is a collection of all 4 of Season 3 DVD boxed sets which are very rare at this time. Here is the listing:

This G.I. Joe Boxed set from Season 2 Part 1 is getting some attention from bidders. Its a used copy and seems to be moving fairly well.

Here is where the beauty of eBay shows itself in full form. Not only is this DVD still available, the bidders have virtually shot themselves in the foot by bidding far beyond the retail price. Caligula, well known for its explicit scenes and Hollywood style pornography, is always a good sell on eBay. While a good sale, I cannot figure out why someone would pay this much for it.

The Fantastic Planet and its sequel always attracts bidders. This sealed copy of Fantastic Planet has 5 days left and already has 12 bidders on it. Hard to find and apparently has a type of cultish following. I have not seen it myself, but it looks interesting.

With only a day left as of this writing, this copy of Supergirl has 16 bids to its name. It is a used copy and looks to be getting nice attention.

Here is an interesting auction in which it appears two bidders are dueling it out for a copy of Little Mermaid. This is not Disney's version, but a Japanese version, also animated, but looks unconventional in the ways of popular Japanese animation (judging from the photos) at 16 bids and 71 bucks, looks like it could be interesting.

In the music scene, perhaps the most sought after OOP DVD is the Tool boxed set. This set continuously sells for at least 50, but I have seen it go as high as 300. Apparently very rare. I dont know if this was limited to their website only, or if stores were selling it at one point. Whatever the case may be, collectors and fans want it.

I remember the days when eBay would put a little flame next to your auction to indicate to browsers that this was a hot auction. The icon would appear only next to those whose auctions had 30 or more bids on the item. Remember those days? Last year perhaps. No, I think a few years ago. I dont think they do that anymore. If they do, its probably very very rare. Not many auctions get a lot of bidding because obviously the whole dynamic and format has changed into a "shopping experience" rather than digging for treasure amongst others garbage. Any rate - I still like the bidding process.  Thats my soapbox. OopAnt.
