Best Buy Exclusives and Non-Exclusives
Recent titles at Best Buy were exclusive for a limited time. Unfortunately for sellers, and a hooray for buyers, may find that both the Warner Sci-Fi Double Features are no longer an exclusive, as well as the Paramount/Legend Films titles. Starting with Warner, for about 3 months, Warner issued 3 different sci-fi double features, most notorious was the one featuring When the Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth. This became an instant must have due to a packaging error in the rating that states it is a 'G' rating, when the version included was the international cut, which includes Playboy Playmate Veronica Vetri in a few naked scenes. This came coupled with Moon Zero Two. The other double features are Battle Beneath the Earth/The Ultimate Warrior and World Without End/Satellite in the Sky. Whether the new releases will have an altered ratings on the package is unknown, however, it will probably have minimal effect on buyers choice. These are set for wide distribution come October 7th.
The Paramount/Legend Films title created more hoopla with the first ever release of the Saul Bass Sci-Fi thriller Phase IV. This was long requested by fans, and finally, when it came to be, it was disappointingly only available at Best Buy. What was more frustrating was it was not even available at every Best Buy, but only select stores, to make it even more difficult to obtain a copy. For a time now, the only places available for outsiders were Amazon, eBay and, if possible, through Best Buys own online store, which for most of the duration was backordered. Because Best Buy does not ship outside the US, many customers struggled to get one. Well, finally, the day has come where fans can purchase them anywhere now. As of this moment, you can purchase directly from the Legends Film website, and soon on Amazon as of October 1st of this year. The other Best Buy exclusives were The Man Who Could Cheat Death, Framed, The Sender and The Deadly Bees. Interestingly, Amazon has not created new pages, but are recycling the user made pages as the official page for these titles.
Outside of Best Buy, there are some great buys to get. For some that have purchased from Oldies.com in the past, check these sales out. The Ingmar Bergman Collection for only 29.99!! Or the Billy Wilder Collection for $39.99. Or if you are in a literary mood, you can grab the A&E Literary Collection for only $29.95! These are some hot prices. I am sure these are limited while supplies last as I am sure many people have tried to buy some of their MGM/Fox specials and was hungup for over a month with no orders. You might want to call them first before making any orders to find out what exactly is in stock.
In addition to the MGM/Fox list for cheap, they are now offering HBO titles at a similarly discounted price. I believe many of these are found at Big Lots and I noticed FYE starting to carry these titles as well. The prices are not impressive and even Amazon has them cheaper.
